Digital Painting arc part 3 + updates

Hey y’all! So sorry I haven’t uploaded in a while. Honestly, I’ll admit it’s been a tough couple of weeks. I don’t wanna get too negative, but I’ve been struggling a bit recently with some matters I’d rather keep private (keeping rants off the internet is a good thing, last time I checked!), but! I don’t want to make this a sob story! I won’t say I’m at 100% again yet, but I’m a healthy-ish 60% back and ready to get back to 100% ASAP!

I know not many people read this blog, but honestly writing it, and the idea of writing for it, has been a great help in keeping motivation. Social media like Twitter is so exhausting, and having a small tight-knit place to post my thoughts and art with less of the stress of traditional social media has done wonders for my motivation and mental health!

Now, I won’t say I have a lot of updates on the art side. I’ve tried to keep up as best as I can with practice, I’ve tried to do some anatomy here and there (which I may have forgotten to post here... oops!), and I’ve tried to keep going with digital painting.

Now, the thing is I haven’t had as much time as I’d like for the painting course I am following. While it’s great, I struggle to keep motivation, and honestly, I’ve been struggling to keep up with it (not on a technical level, but on a motivation and time level), so I’ve decided to take a lil break from it and try to learn from a good old book.

Right now I’m following the book "Beginners Guide to Quick and Simple Painting in Procreate."

While it’s not the most complex or technical book, it’s a fun way to practice some digital painting at my own pace, which is what I love about books, plus the fact that I feel things are a bit more open-ended with books. You read and then apply what you read as best as you can and to the best of your understanding, and it feels better glancing back at an image and a small block of text than watching the same 5-second clip over and over again because you couldn’t get that one little detail right.

So I only started it today, so I’ve only really done just one little painting, but I think it turned out alright-ish. I had fun doing it (which had not happened in a while!), so I hope you like it.
